Repressed Emotions-Why They Are Important And How To Clear Them

Clearing our repressed emotions is probably the most important thing that we can do in our life and that’s why I believe healing emotions is the most important activity that we can engage in.

Why is it important you may ask? Well there are couple of reason I could go into to illustrate the point.

First of all if you want to be master of your own destiny it’s vital then you get I touch with and clear these emotions as they will shape your life if you don’t. Carl Jung said that our shadow becomes our destiny unless we heal it (or something along those lines). If you truly want authenticity and to live a whole life it’s vitally important to clear away what is stopping you.

The second reason comes more from a healing/ spiritual point of view and it goes like this. Consider that your purpose in life is simply to heal and clear the negative emotions that you brought into the world or that you incurred during this life time. What if you took physical form just to clear away the hurts and pain that you brought into this life time.

Another good reason for healing emotions and probably the most important as far as I’m concerned is that repressed emotions can cause sickness and ill health in us unless they are left inside unhealed.

The first step to healing these emotions is to become aware of them and you can do it in the following ways.

1)      Writing with your less dominant hand

One way to identify what emotions that might be suppressed in your mind and body is to ask questions by writing a questions with your dominant hand and answering the question by writing with you less dominant hand. The weaker less dominant hand can represent the depressed parts of the sub-conscious that are not seen. This has worked for me in past and was a very effective way of healing emotions. This can work really well for inner child healing as well where the less dominant hand can be your child.

2)      Asking yourself the right question

If your in the middle of healing anxiety or another emotional issue at the moment, it’s important to get to the repressed emotions that might be driving the issue. One thing that you can try is to ask yourself is what is the deepest thing that you are feeling at the moment?. Be patient and simply wait for an answer to come. You may not understand why you are feeling that particular emotion but more answers will reveal themselves in time.

3)      What to do when you have found them

This question now begs an answer. What do you do with the repressed emotions once you have actually found them in order to clear them? The first thing to try is to simply accept that the emotion is there and then you could try a simple technique like eft for healing the problem. Simply tap while you are thinking about what is causing the emotion and you will be on your way to healing.
